Our church government follows the Evangelical Presbyterian Church model which includes the essentials of our faith.We utilize the Evangelical Presbyterian Church model of leadership which includes the election and installation of a Board of Elders who through prayer and wisdom given facilitate the running of the church.
The Pastor contributes to the running of the church as a ruling elder. Additional elders are ruling elders as well; each elder has 1 vote. We have six active elders each serving a 3 year term with elder elections coming up annually. Each area has one or more area of responsibility within the church.
Additionally we have Dedicated Servants, volunteers that serve in a variety of ways to ensure peoples needs are met.
History in the Community
The first church and Sunday School services were held as far back as 1910 in the farm home of the S.S. Brooks family. Itinerant preachers of different denominations came from surrounding towns. They came by horse and buggy or any way they could. When the first one room school house was built, church and Sunday School were held there. It was there that the Community Presbyterian Church was formed.
The church was dedicated June 4, 1916 due to the efforts of Rev. Young who was the minister at that time and had been for several years.
